Whatever begins to exist has a cause. The universe began to exist (Big Bang). Therefore, the universe has a cause that transcends time, space, and matter. This cause must be a personal being — God. The Kalam Cosmological Argument demonstrates that an actually infinite regress of past events is logically impossible, so the universe must have a first cause.
